The Blue Kitchen

My blue cabinet!
The corner near the pantry.
Blue coffee pots and cup.
A bluebird on my windowsill.
The pine hutch.
And my blue apron!

Birthday Celebration

Lunch in Lancaster, at The Fireside Tavern, followed by shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village.  The Petting Zoo at KKV had this sweet Llama who posed with Sabrina.
The Birthday Girl with a special candy cake gift.
Back at home we snuggled kitties.  Abby with Stella and Sabrina with Piper.
We gave Piper a tulle skirt.

Funny kitty!
A fun girl day!

Christmas 2014

Now that Christmas is over I wanted to post a few photos of my kitchen decorated for the holidays.
The back door.
My special glass front cabinet all decked out in red and green.
An old scle from my basement.  Pinecones and greens from the yard.
Our tree minimally decorated.  With 2 new kitties I only put up a few unbreakable ornaments.
Hosted a girl's night.
On Christmas Eve Riley was busy crafting.  This is tissue paper taped to a box.  It kept him busy for quite a while.

These sweet girlies helped with Christmas Eve dinner!

Big Kitchen Reveal

There has been a lot of dancing around the kitchen this weekend!  It is not totally complete.  Still awaiting the arrival of drawer pulls and cupboard door knobs, pendant lights, few bits of trim, doors and shelves and pullout drawers to name few.  But it is finished enough to use!

Let me take you on a little tour.  Starting from the "hall" entrance:
New location for refrigerator,  "morning beverage station", (see the missing cupboard doors?).
My one glass front cupboard.  Currently decorated for fall.  Fall napkins, tablecloths and tea towels plus a few kitchen items that are orange and yellow.  Sometimes I just open it and stand there and grin.    I think John is afraid to use anything in here!

New window, waiting for a curtain.  Big sink!!    New Bosch QUIET!! Dishwasher, pretty gray tile floor!!
Back door and big pantry, minus doors that didnt open because of back door.  New drawers and doors due any day.
My cooking corner.  Drawers for hot pads and cooking utensils, cupboard for cutting boards.  And yes, we are using tabs of blue painter's tape for door and drawer pulls😀

John eating dinner!  We use this island and counter stools for most meals now.  Sweetie boy loves it too!!
Big drawers for pots and pans.

Dining room as seen from kitchen.
My old pine hutch decorated for fall.

The kitchen is only about 1/4 full.  Lots of boxes to unpack yet.  Working slowly and unpacking most used items first and trying to put them where they will be used.  Still have Doug here another week so can't work on it during the day.
I have bare bulbs where pendant lights will be.

I recently explained to John my plan for a neutral white and gray kitchen so I can change out accessories and dishes to match a season or holiday.  Orange and yellow for Fall.  He stared at me, absolutely dumbfounded and told me I was "Brilliant!"  Even the dish soap is orange right now!!

Need to finish cleaning up and wash dishes and load my dishwasher!!  All it needs is ourHalloween black cat.😢 🎃. We miss him.

Using a leaf blower to clean off new mold.

John met delivery truck at 6 am.  We took him breakfast and had a quick tour.

Spring!!!

After JCC we stopped at Miller Plant Farm.  The place was crazy busy and I kept losing my little helper.  He foundseveral  water displays to check out.  He kept assuring me he wasnt touching the water but his fingers were wet??  Left my phone in the car so only got pictures at the car.
It felt so good to get my fingers in the dirt! Baby  Ezra stopped to visit with his Grandma.  He gets so excited to see Riley!  Can't believe he is 4 months!

We were so busy planting that John arrived home and lunch wasn't started!  I think we are all in disbelief that it is warm!

Big ice storm damaged bush beside holly tree so I chopped it down and we planted seeds there last week.  Sunflowers and zinnias!
Jasmine and a cathedral trellis.
Also a lavender bush and more Echinacia.
Another Shasta Daisy and Black Eyed Susan .
Azaleas are in full bloom.
Still need to plant herbs and annuals, but it is a start!

Stitches south

Lots of pretty yarn.  New spring colors at A Hindred Ravens.   Pretty yarn & very nice People!!
Pretty fabric project bags at Erin Lane Bags.  Bought loads at discount to sell at shop!! Love the ones with sheep!
Took a class on Scandinavian Twined Knitting.
Used a nostepin to make mini center pull balls.

Lovely teacher, Laura.

Finally, Spring in York!

How, in an already busy schedule do we find time for exercise?  Not easy, but right now it starts even before this sweetie gets buckled in!  I set my clothes out the night before and have my bag ready to fill with my water, towel and breakfast!  We head straight to the JCC.
He knows the routine by now! Shoes and jacket go in a cubby. ( it keeps the floor clean for crawling babies.). 45 minutes of "spinning" at the cycle class and I am hot and sweaty!
We have watched the progress of this flower bed on our way in every week.  Today there are daffodils and crocus blooming!
We also stop every day to check out this drain at the edge of the parking lot.  On Monday it was raining and the water was "gushing in" and "very cool".  He also stomped in a huge puddle and got us both very wet.
Home for some "Kitty chasing" with Riley yelling, " i just want to give you a hug, Ozzy"
He usually manages to stay just out of reach.
I attempted to pack for my trip to Atlanta.  As Riley said to John at lunch.  "Lala didn't get her suitcase packed because someone was too distracting.  It was me.  I asked too many questions."  I think I have it all gathered, just needs  folded, rolled, stuffed!!
He tried to take a nap while I started, but didn't last long.  Note the wooly hand warmers he is wearing.  No pants, but gotta keep those hands warm!
Good fake sleeper.
After taking all the dirty laundry out if here and flinging it on the floor he packed up for his trip.  Water bottle? Check.  Yoga mat? Check. Pants? Nope.
Time for lunch!  Mama packed chicken nuggets and salad, berries and yogurt. Ate most of it.
Note the blue dishes.  He LOVES blue.  Still hearing sing and chatter from upstairs.  Maybe he should be down here cleaning and I should be tucked in for nap!
