Foundry Field Trip

We had a little field trip to the foundry to see Uncle John's newest invention. Some type of circular cutter.  Riley was fascinated and told me as we left that he plans to work at the foundry with John when he is a grown-up.
He told me he could "peel all the corn " and didnt need help! Love this age!  He also took full trash bag out without being asked.  Loves to help.  This is what he sees at home!  Great job, Mama and Daddy!!
He is resting in his chair watching treetrimmers  down the street.  Moved his chair 15 feet away from me to get a better view.  I am just enjoying the quiet!!

No Nap Days

As a former teacher I know that most kindergarteners have outgrown naps.  At my house we have "quiet time" after lunch.  Time to rest on the couch and listen to music or an audiobook.
Some days we have a quiet hour and some days not.  Today? Not.  Tuesday is trash day and he recognizes the sound of the trash truck as it moves down the block.  Today after 40 minutes of quietish resting we heard a LOUD noise out front.
Cement mixer!  Better than Christmas.  Not kidding.
I grabbed my basket ( knitting, magazine, colored pencils and coloring book) and settled with my chai for the new version of "quiet time".
Backhoe pulls up close and front gets filled and then moved out of sight to back yard.
Sweetie has sweetly requested rainbow socks for kindergarten.  No not striped socks,  a pair of each color in the rainbow.  Upon further questioning he named the requested rainbow colors: blue, black, white, blue, pink and purple, yellow, blue and orange.  No green.  Just an oversight I am sure.
He does NOT WANT HIS PICTURE TAKEN !! Silly boy!
 Half a pair almost finished.

Summer Entertainment

We took at early morning walk at John Rudy Park, mailed a package at the post office ( Etsy Sale # 3!!) and then home to unload dishwasher and start laundry.
We set up camp in the front yard.  Muffins, chai, coloring book and colored pencils, knitting and library books.  Neighbors are putting on an addition and and Sweetie boy enjoys watching the workers, backhoe and dump truck.
Lovely cool weather,  mid 60's at 11 am!!  Love it!!

Snowy Tuesday

We woke to falling snow and sweet Girlie brought my buddy to me.  A brisk 16 degrees this morning.
Our old furnace is struggling to keep the house warm.  Riley knows this is the warm spot in the kitchen with the little heater under the peninsula blowing out warm air. I also found a wool sweater I made 2 years ago that was too big at the time.  Fits perfectly now although the hood is too small.
He is still not feeling well.  No fever but sniffly and coughing so no school.  I downloaded audio version of Charlottes Web and he is watching the snow fall and listening.
Kitties are listening and watching too!
